As the calendar turns to March 8th, we not only celebrate International Women’s Day, a beacon of progress, equality, and love, but we also mark the anniversary of Cena Life Inc., a testament to resilience, learning, and empowerment in the field of mental health services.

This connection offers a profound moment for my reflection on the strides society has made towards gender equality and the ongoing journey of my personal growth as a business owner.

International Women’s Day stands as a global reminder of the tenacity and strength of women throughout history. It is a day to celebrate the achievements of women, while also acknowledging the challenges and gaps that persist in achieving full equality. The themes of progress, equality, and love encapsulate not just the aspirations for women’s rights but also the broader human rights agenda, striving for a world where every individual is valued and given the opportunity to thrive.

Cena Life Inc., founded with intention on this day, embodies a spirit of innovation and commitment, dedicated to offering equitable access to mental health services. The overlap of these days is a moment for me to reflect not just on the strides we’ve made toward gender equality and accessible mental health care, but also on my personal journeys that intersect with these celebrations.

International Women’s Day is not only a reminder of the societal strides made towards gender equality but also as a call to action to continue breaking down barriers across every aspect of our lives. It’s a day to honour the silent battles, the outspoken victories, and the ongoing struggles of women around the globe.

For me, it reaffirms my dedication to creating and sustaining a world where every woman and girl can exercise her freedoms and choices, including participation in politics, religion, and enjoying equal opportunities in education and employment.

In the spirit of this day, I also reflect on my personal challenges throughout my life and the effort that is required to overcome them, especially as a woman. I have had to constantly learn and educate myself in order to be at the table and be seen and heard. In me it reveals a deeper narrative about fostering my own resilience and self-empowerment. 

I believe that my narrative stems from the time before me when for generations, the talents, gifts, and strengths of women were overlooked, and as a result we saw only the gaps in our contributions. This has created a drive in myself for continuous self-improvement and fierce independence.

I realize that the journey I have been on where I can limit my requests for support and rely on myself to prove my contributions is both empowering and isolating; it highlights the complex dynamics of being a female and demonstrating both strength and vulnerability.

My experience also underscores the importance of recognizing and validating the diverse capabilities of women, advocating for environments where their contributions are celebrated, and their potential is unleashed. My journey has not been devoid of obstacles, heartache and self-doubt, but it has been a path that continues to teach me the importance of self-reliance, the value in the pursuit of knowledge, and the power of unwavering and consistent belief in my own beautiful capabilities.

In the context of mental health, the need for services delivered with empathy, care, and equality has never been more pronounced.
